Exhaust manifold
Rear axle

The exhaust manifold was made by welding bits of pipe
together.

The Austin A60 axle chosen for its low ratio (4.3:1) and the
possibilities of finding lower ratios. The radius arms and
panhard rod are from a Vauxhall Chevette.

The Fiat conversion finished

Driving

9 weeks later the conversion is complete. I did the work
during the summer holiday after my A levels at the age of 17.
The only work I had done was the propshaft at Dunning and
Fairbank ( Here ).
--------------------------------------------------------------

As I believe cars are for driving I drove mine hard on some
local gravel practicing hand brake turns.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Another hand brake turn.

--------------------------------------------------------------

The car was good at standing starts. Here the front lifts, the
rear squats and 2 lines of tread are left. This is with an open
differential and no limited slip diff.
